Can I install unregistered Windows Vista..

- and then install a new copy of Windows 7 Upgrade?

I have copy of Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit but i have it already installed ony my laptop. I want to download the student edition of Windows 7 Professional from Microsoft for $49AUD instead of buying the full Windows 7 Pro for $400.

Will i be able to install the copy of Windows 7 Upgrade on an Unregistered Windows Vista?

you can install Windows using the upgrade media even with no prior OS installed. See the stickies in this section.

I have read that you can not do a clean install of Student edition. I didn't know if this was a student edition or not =/

It's been mentioned here that all student versions of Win7 are Full versions.

Digital River has confirmed that in an e-mail to one of the students.
They said they referred to it as an upgrade meaning from Vista to Win7.

Check with your down load site.
MS deals for students are normally Full versions.
