If you want to try a 98 to 7 "upgrade" it will be interesting. I was bored one day and took a spare box, barely able to run 7 and wiped it. I installed 98se and did all the drivers and updates. Then I upgraded to XP. Drivers and updates again. Then Vista. You know the drill.

When I upgraded again to 7 it worked. Without cleanup I was at over four times the disk space and under half the performance of a clean 7 install on the same box.

The moral of the story --if you have the installation media for the Vista to 7 upgrade like you must to do what you are asking to do. Perform a clean install and use that disk when prompted.

What does Microsoft consider a "Previous Qualifying Version of Windows" that is needed to use the Win 7 upgrade disk?

If you cant burn to a CD/DVD, then you might be able to put it on a flash drive/USB key

otherwise, I dont know if you can do an upgrade path from Windows98.... if you are going to 64x then you definitely cant....you would need a clean install or upgrade from a vista64x biuld.

Do you have an ISO? where did you get the ISO, if it is from a vendor (OEM) then you might be able to request a DVD be sent to you....
