Thanks "Golden" and "Brink" for your response,

This will only be a system repair disc, and not like a
recovery drive (USB) where you could also copy the contents of the recovery partition to the USB though.
I want to create a "Factory Recovery drive" of pre-installed Win8 OEM, before clean installing Win7 onto the same PC. ie a
downgrade
Not a Rescue/Repair Disk.
PC came with Win8 pre-installed and has the Win8 OEM partition.
I am using the PC manufacturers pre-installed "Create a Recovery Disc" feature to create the "Factory Recovery Disc"
If ultimately the PC develops a mechanical fault, I will use the Factory Recovery disc to return the PC to its factory state.
My first attempt onto an 8GB thumb drive failed because the TD at 8GB was too small for 11.3GB required.
As I understand it, there are two ways (or maybe three) of storing the "Factory Recovery" partition/stuff. (!?)
1. Thumb drive (at least 16GB)
2. CDs (probably two of them)
3. DVD possibly ?
Thumb drives concern me for long term (like, years) of data storage .
