Solved Can I partition an HDD so I can dual boot 2 copies of Win 7?

Probably. I dual booted 2 XPs before, and Windows 7 and XP, so I don't see why not, just make sure you have 2 cdkeys though

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.
There is no reason at all as to why you can't do what you want other than you will need your own copy of Windows for the second installation.
As for the risks, there is no more risk of viruses than there is with only one installation. Just make sure you have adequate anti-virus software installed and keep away from suspect sites as you would do normally.
Once you have your dual-boot system up and running you may want to edit the operating system names so you're not confused as to which is which.

Will they allow you to do this ?
If yes, log into the W7 Enterprize and install partition wizard.
Use that to split your hard drive into 2 partitions.
Write down the size of the new partition you make so you don`t install to the wrong one.

If you are NOT the admin, you will have some problems doing that thru Windows. You need a bootable external program. I am not going to recommend one because I do not want to undermine your school policy.

You don't need to install two windows 7 operating systems to use it at school and at home. You will be complicating the things, especially when the notebook belongs to the school.
In schools normally the admin locks the local admin account. All you have to do is put a request with your school teacher/lecturer/professor to ask the admin to create a local normal user account for you in Win 7 Ent. on the netbook. With this account you can login at your home with local username and at school with domain account. This way you will have two different profiles, one for school and one for home separated from each other.

Do I understand this correctly? The school gives you a computer to do school work on and you want a way to do other than school work on your computer when your home.
