Before everyone starts to rip me apart, let me explain what I am trying to do.

I use 2 different email accounts (with comcast.net) to separate my normal home emails and those serviceing sites like Freecycle. For my home stuff, I use Outlook 2010 which installed fine on Windows 7. Previously in XP I used outlook express for non-home related stuff. This works fine in keeping the two streams of data separated.

Now that I am migrating over to Windows 7, is there a version of outlook express I can use?

According to MS

Outlook Express isn't available in Windows Vista or Windows 7—you can't download it or run it on either version of Windows. However, you can install an e‑mail program from another company or use Windows Live Mail—a free program that is part of Windows Live Essentials.

zigzag3143.... thanks for the quick response. not the answer i wanted but now don't have to waste time trying to figure it out.

My options I can go with now are, service the comcast.net email address through their web interface (that's somewhat of a pain) or use an existing yahoo or gmail address to service the non-home stuff (and still have to go through a web interface).

On the Windows Live Mail, will it service the comcast.net email address or do I need to set up a new email address?

tks mike

Mike,

Are you aware that you can access multiple accounts through a single instance of Outlook?

Golden,
Yeah, I do that on other emails that i have. but I do want to keep them separated. I know I can set up rules and move incoming emails to separate folders but believe the issue is when I respond to an email it defaults to the "owner" of that email. In other words if I get an email on the second account to lets say, newguy1, when collect it in a single email client, if I respond, I believe it doesn't tag it as coming from newguy1.

haven't really tested it that way, just got used to keeping them completely separated and didn't have to worry about mixing them up.

Not sure if my response makes that much sense.
tks mike

Yep, that makes sense. I just wanted to see whether you were aware of multi-accounts :)

I have four email accounts set up in Outlook 2010 and it actually will use the email address of the account folder you are in when you start a new or respond to an email. There is also the dropdown box beside the "from" line if you want to use a different account to send with.

Also no need for rules between the accounts as any email for each automatically goes to the correct Inbox.
