Solved Can I run Windows 7 Ultimate on 2GB Ram?

Hi all, can I run Windows 7 Ultimate on 2GB Ram and Intel Atom 1,66GHz Procesor?
And will working Aero on 256MB RAM of Graphics Card?

Windows 7 is version specific and not bit-rate specific, i.e. a Windows 7 Ultimate activation key will activate either the 32-bit or the 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System, so I suggest you have a go and if it doesn't satisfy, install the 32-bit.

Short answer yes. Whether Aero will work or not depends on the specific model of graphics card. If you install and leave the product code blank, you can run it as a trial for 30 days. Longer if you use the rearm trick. That way if you aren't happy you haven't used your product code and could install on another PC if you like.
If you run the Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor it may tell you if Aero will work.

Yes you can, but it may be a bit slow if you try to do to much at once on it.


Windows 7 Minimum Hardware Requirements:

NOTE: For more information on this, see: Windows 7 system requirements

• 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
• 1 GB RAM for 32-bit Windows 7 OR 2 GB RAM for 64-bit Windows 7
• 16 GB available hard disk space for 32-bit Windows 7 OR 20 GB for 64-bit Windows 7
• Graphics card or chip that supports DirectX 9 with 128 MB memory (to have Aero theme enabled)
• DVD-R/W drive, or bootable USB port with Windows 7 USB flash drive
• Internet or phone access to activate Windows 7.

Aero Requirements to be Enabled in Windows 7

• Aero is not included in Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Starter editions.
• 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
• 1 GB of system memory
• A graphics card with support for DirectX 9 graphics with at least 128 MB of memory.
• The graphics card must support Pixel Shader 2.0 and the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).
• The computer display color depth must be set to 32 bits per pixel.
• Desktop composition needs to be enabled (checked) in Visual Effects.
• The Desktop Window Manager Session Manager and Themes Services need to be set as Started and Automatic.
• Refresh or update your WEI score. You will need an WEI score minimum of 2.0 in both Graphics & Gaming graphics in order for Aero to be activated.

it's know but windows (on disk) max use 1GB of ram and Windows XP on VMware use Max 800MB, no?

I run virtual machines just fine. You are limited to the amount you can run, however.

Yes you can run a Virtual machine IF your CPU supports it. You may experience poor performance, similar to a low frame rate in a 3D game.
