Can I store files centrally on a network drive?

Is it possible to connect a drive to my WiFi router so that all WiFi devices could access the drive to store and share data i.e. Photo's, downloads, music etc?

Devices consist of netbooks (win7) and android tablets and android phones.

Hope somebody can help

I don't see why not. However, I have no experiences with Android and its iterations with a network drive

yes - it's known as a NAS - network-attached storage - basically a hard drive with an ethernet cable (some have usb too) that you plug into the router.

i believe some routers allow you to plug in a usb drive and share that, but i've never done it myself.

goto your favourite computer shop and search for 'NAS' (if they also sell music, you'll probably find some good hiphop with that search-term too )

you'll need a decent file manager for android - i use 'ES file explorer', which is free and can access shared folders/drives over wifi. there are other apps that can do this, but i like ES.

note that hard drive prices are still pretty expensive at the moment due to thailand floods last year - things are starting to settle down though...

It will depend on the type of network drive you purchase and how it can be accessed.
One drive my brother bought required a program to be running in Windows to be able to access the drive.
