Can i upgrade laptops with vista to 7?

we have 2 laptops that came preinstalled with vista (i think it's business version).
is it possible to upgrade vista to 7 based on the vista key?

Don`t think so, you would need a Windows 7 Upgrade disc, and Anytime upgrade has been dead for a long time, better to just clean install 7.

so can i download a vista image from microsoft?
i know end of support is around april 2017 so when time comes i'll just throw this laptop out
but for the meantime i have use for them.

edit: never mind, just found out this is vista home basic versions
so i can't use them with a domain anyway.
