Can I upgrade my ram to this..

Merry Christmas to all, I received a HP 210 Mini 3000 notebook today. It's only got a 1gb of RAM currently, but I'm finding it a wee bit slow for my liking. So I'm looking to put this 4gb RAM chip in;

Corsair Memory 4GB Vengeance Performance DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600 MHz 9 Dual Channel Laptop - CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9 - Scan.co.uk

Anyone have any advice as to whether this may work?

Appears that 1Gb is the maximum amount of ram the board can handle according to the spec sheet...

The specs sheet I looked up it said only 2gb so I'm just wondering really is it worth a try. would you try it?

Scan with the Crucial Scanner. Then you know for certain.

2GB is all the mini's will handle according to the tech sheets but Crucials website says 2 x 2GB for a total of 4 Gigs memory.

Now for the big question, does your mini have the 32 bit OS or the 64 bit version?
32 bit will not be able to use the whole 4GB of memory which is a limatation of the 32 bit OS and you will only be able to use 3.5 Gigs out of the 4.

If you have the 64 bit version then you will be able to use the whole 4 Gigs

If it is possible, I would still go with the 4GB - even with a 32bit OS.

"HP 210 Mini 3000 " is not enough information. That's just a series. You need the have the exact Model Number or check the information that came with the notebook. Don't rely on third-party sites to configure your machine. They sell memory and often over-state or incorrectly state memory limits. Go directly to HP for the info.

Added: Also, adding a larger memory module than recognized by the BIOS could cause the notebook not to get past POST. (In other words, Not Boot.)
