Can I use an OEM ISO to install Win7 PRO x64 onto Lenovo e540

I have a new, never used, Lenovo e540 with Win-7 PRO x64
Purchased in Aug-2015, but a week later I had a stroke so the Lenovo sat in its wrapper until about Mar-2017 (this year)
The Lenovo came with a lot of Lenovo crud and following Greg Rockers mantra I was cautiously uninstalling Lenovo "extras" using Revounistaller PRO
- the washup is no boot, no BIOS ... and C:\ drive is empty (I tried recovering the C:\ partition with 2 programs)

I gave the broken Lenovo to a local significant repair shop, who installed a non-Lenovo Win-7 onto the machine again.
- cost was $200, no discs, no recovery partition ... nothing else. !
The shop loaded a lot of commercial trial-ware onto my machine

- so I have been uninstalling "stuff" with Revounistaller PRO

Now the system is unstable some Windows features have disappeared ...
... no Safely Remove and no "Eject"

Time for a clean slate ... I have wasted lost too much time already

A new HDD and a fresh install of Win-7 PRO x64 using an ISO file.
The repair shop did give me this list of "product codes" .... beyond my knowledge

Is this enough info to use a generic OEM ISO to install Win-7 PRO x64 onto the new HDD
OR
would it be easier to buy a new OEM with new keys and start afresh ?
- a new Win-7 PRO OEM (ISO download) is cheaper ($85) than another $200 and gives me a Recovery (sought of) in the future.

From reading today the OEM: DM means the activation is stored in the BIOS but (again) my understanding is DM is only applicable to Win-8.x and later (?)
So I assume the original pre-installed Win-7 PRO x64 does not know about the DM in BIOS.
- I originally activated the pre-installed Win-7 PRO x64 online, no problems ...

I would appreciate any help

Yes mate first up make sure you have the key and use this to find it Product Key Number for Windows 7 - Find and See
if you use both programs then you can be sure you have the right key code now to get the ISO you need to go to this
Clean Install Windows 7 and use the download from Microsoft Software Recovery because it will request you enter the key first before you can download and if it is not right then you will not get the download and know you will need get the right key code.

Do that first after finding the key mate.

Hi Bawldiggle,

1) you do not need to purchase a new key and Iso. (that $85 dollar deal is too cheap)
2) you should have a back-up key on your COA sticker. (may be in battery compartment)
possibly this one 7H2VR-VQ29D you quoted
3) W8 OEM product key is pre-loaded into the Bios during manufacture, NO COA sticker.

Activate a different language or bit edition

The Windows 7 product keys are all agnostic of language version and bit edition. Any valid Windows 7 product key determines only the edition (Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise). It can, however, activate both 32 and 64 bit editions in any language. So, for instance, a key for the German Windows 7 Professional x86 edition can activate a Chinese Windows 7 Professional x64 edition. So if you already own a key, you can download any 32 or 64 bit image in your preferred language.
The *.iso downloads can very easily be converted into universal installation media supporting all Windows 7 editions (except Enterprise). There's only a single file that needs to be removed on the DVD. The file named ei.cfg in the sources folder restricts the choice of Windows editions that can be installed with that particular DVD. To remove it, you can apply the ei.cfg Removal Utility very easily.

Thanks Roy I was just thinking that download I suggested would test out whether the key was correct as when I have downloaded ISO's form that sit e in the tutorial they required the key before they will let you download it.

Didn`t you tell them you just wanted a clean install ??????

And what do you mean "No Bios" ???

The only key you need is on your Windows 7 COA, you said the PC was new and never used, so it should be on the PC somewhere.

I am back at work full time, a contract for 3 months good $$, so not the time I have had since "retiring" in 2007
- I knew there was a reason I wake at 4:30am every day
