Can I use my registered copy of windows on a factory reset PC ?

I want to reset my laptop to factory reset , however although I have a licenced copy of windows 7 ultimate and microsoft office , I no longer have the original install discs ...Am I able to retrieve the licence key on my copies I have installed and then download authentic copies of both windows and office and use the licence keys I have ? after I reset ? I do still have the product key on the laptop but that was only for vista not windows 7 .. any suggestions appreciated

Back up your data on an external drive.
Do a Clean install Clean Install Windows 7
Use the key to activate.
For the updates MS releases SP2 for Windows 7

use this it will show you all ms keys on your comp

note no discs = not good for an install
unless its a retail key.

Brilliant piece of information , thank you . I will need to digest this more , but did run the licence crawler , and there they were ... Unbelievable !! Being a novice here , can I just confirm by just downloading a clean installation and entering the key it will accept ? also the clean install info suggests that it will work if there is an older copy of windows or no windows OS ... does this still apply if I do have windows 7 installed already ? or do I need to clear this OS first ? Lastly would it be worth considering a higher OS platform . I am looking at sorting out my Acer 7720 ..however Acer are saying they dont consider an upgrade viable unless through a technician as this machine was designed to run on Vista , but to be fair this seems to be a bit old now ... at some point I have upgraded to 7 Ultimate and it works , but it seems quite sluggish and slow especially with regards graphics and internet connections ie skype or streaming becomes jerky even though I am only 3 metres from the router with a clear view ? hence my enquiries to attempt to get back to a responsive sharp performing laptop if I can .. any guidance /suggestions appreciated .

Run License Crawler on the computer you want to extract the keys. Save the result as a txt file on a flash disk.

Is Win 7 and Office installed in the same computer you want to reinstall? If yes, no problem. Download Win 7 Ult, burn a CD or install it on a USB disk (Use Rufus) then do a clean install.

If you want to install Win 7 and Office on another computer, the License must be a retail type, not OEM.

been lookin at the specs on that lappy.
Actually its the other way around
W7 Ultimate is too powerfull for it, its probobly running at its upper limits, hence the lagging graphics etc.

The cheap and cheerfull fix increase the RAM to its capacity

• Technology
  DDR2 SDRAM
• Speed
  PC2-5300
• (funnily enough just bought that for £26 on amazon)

Anything else in reality, is just not worth it you could buy a decent refurbed for about £125.
