Request Help in performing a factory reset and restore (win 7)

Hello, I have a Acer Aspire 5542 - 1462 running windows 7. I have 3 Cd's that are labeled recovery 1, 2 and 3. The laptop will not let me manually factory restore, because someone dual booted it with Linux. I have these 3 recovery CD's, can anyone get me some advice and help on using these recovery CD's so that I can factory reset the laptop. Thank You

Hello and welcome wilspeak mate just how did you try the factory reset because having a previous dual boot will not have or should not have changed the specific partition made for just this purpose.

Now I have found answers for the restore from using Alt + F9 to Alt+F10 to reset it so as I said just what were you using? My self I start tapping the restore button as soon as I can after power on - preferably before when there is only one button to be tapped.

Now if you hit the right combination it should lead you through a set of set up instructions - you should not need disks.

Just a by the by how old is the machine?

Ok Will mate try what I suggested first try holding down Alt and F10 while you power on and see what comes up because it should have a set partition put there by Acer that allows the machine to be set to as it came from the factory.

Now unless the person who dual booted the machine wiped the drive before the dual boot was set up then that aprtition will be still there.

Read through this too if my suggestion does not work because that option MAY have to be allowed through the BIOS settings although I have never come up against this in the past. Acer Aspire System Recovery Partition

Having said all this mate the machine now getting reasonably close to retirement as the specs tell me the components are really oldish tech. Acer Aspire 5542-1462 Specs - CNET
