Can' send email

I have noticed that in Outlook, whwn I am on some wireless networks away from my home network, I can receive my email on outlook, but I can not reply nor send email through outlook. Everything else works fine on these other networks, but I have to go to my server websites that I am pulling my email from to be able to send or reply to them. Any idea what I have wrong?

Windows 7 HP 32 bit and OUtlook 2007.

Bill the sendmail server settings are different. At home you may send mail to server.myisp.com, where as in a coffee house they may have a different ISP.

Best bet, use web mail..

Not had any issues myself here - one thing it could be is that the coffee-house router does not have the correct ports open for SMTP - 25 for unencrypted

The info is valid although the link is specific to a particular ISP

The outside networks' ISP may be blocking the default outgoing (smtp) port. E.g., my ISP does it (to prevent spamming or something) so while I can receive mail in Outlook, I cant send any using the default ports. What I have done is to configure Gmail smtp in Account settings (keeping incoming pop3 default), using my Gmail account username and password and the Gmail port (465/587). All my outgoing mail now goes through Gmail, no fuss.
