Can someone help me make a .bat file?

I want to creat a file that toggles my screen between portait and landscape, as well as moving my taskbar from the "right" side of the screen to the "left" side which is now the top.

Not sure why you want to do that, but wouldn't it be simpler to just drag the taskbar where you want it. Also, just to be clear, do you want to change your main screen from portrait to landscape? I am not sure that function is built into windows 7 OS, if it is, show me. Then I might be able to write a vb script that does that for you. It might also be built into the video card's control panel. If is a builtin function in the OS, then the script might be possible, if it builtin to the card's control panel, then no.

Yeah, this is for my netbook w/ touchscreen. I know the options are there, but I would like to be able to quickly switch back and forth. For note taking and reading large texts.

It's rather annoying to go into the resolution options, and dragging the taskbar everytime I want to switch.

I would think that your netbook would have settings to that effect - my Tablet PC does - I can set the orientation to face either way when it is rotated into tablet mode, and with a bit of work I should be able to force the taskbar on the other edge, methinks....

I assume this is only available on netbooks\ tablet pc. I do not see that option on my desktop.

I added a third party touchscreen to my netbook, so there's no inherent features/buttons to change the orientation. Just the built in windows options through the resolution panel.

I believe the first post here (under multi-monitor support) has your answer.

EDIT: Just right click on the desktop, and make a new notepad file. Name it whatever you want and copy and paste what's written in that guy's post. Find where he has the numbers for the resolution and change them to whatever you would like your resolution set at (length x width). Choose "save as" when your done and keep the same title with .bat at the end, but before you save it, choose to save it as "all files" instead of ".txt".

I looked at that post, it addresses resolution, but not orientation. It is still a good script to have, but the OP wants something to change his orientation. I do not seem to have that feature on my desktop. Once again, I assume it is only available on tablet \laptops. Do any of you guys have that option on your desktop?

Thanks zay, that works for now. I still gotta figure out how to move the start menu to the top when I change orientation.

It's gonna mess with my winamp global hotkeys but I'll work around it. I was messing aroud on eee forums for my netbook and someone did something similar and assigned them to the user definable hardware keys on there.

Thanks. Yea I think the orientation changing is for laptop hardware, I don't recall seeing it on my desktop build.

If anyone knows a script to move the start bar it would be much appreciated!

Man you sure are picky, lol. When your orientation changes, just drag the task bar. Also, if you don't want to use hot keys, just use the tray icon to rotate the screen.

I think HP has a turning screen. Hook your laptop up to that and use it. It automagically fixes the orientation. It's right here: HP GW458AA#ABA HP w2207 22" Wide LCD Monitor

I have that option on my desktop - although I am not sure why as neither of my X213Ws have the ability to 'rotate', although I could theoretically *mount* them sideways.

Do I just throw that in a .vbs file and run it?

From my very shallow understanding of coding, that looks like it'll shift the taskbar for me?

No problem. You may have to play around with the text, though.

You can put it in a .bat first, if that doesn't work, go with .vbs
