Can System Preparation Tool discussed in tutorial "Windows 7 Installation - Transfer to a New Computer" be run on the target HDD if the target HDD is now a secondary drive of another Windows installation ?

Forgot to SysPrep my Win 7 Pro 64bit prior to removing the old mother board...that board is now installed in other Windows system Win 7 Pro 32 bit.

Can I run System Preparation Tool on my original target drive if it a secondary drive another PC ?

Thanks...

Will the OS start up on the new hardware? How did it start the first time you moved it to that hardware?

Why are you wanting to SysPrep?

Forgot to run System Preparation Tool prior to dismantleing box and installing new MB.

Have not tried yet to fire up new configuration...will try tomorrow and update here.

Have another functioning Win 7 Pro box and wondered if I could run System Preparation Tool on the subject drive as an additional drive via command line in that box via that system...or does System Preparation Tool have to run on the system (boot) drive in the box it's in ?

I don't think so. If it won't start then your options are to run Paragon Adaptive Restore CD on the Win7 partition if you can find it, or take an image of the current HD and restore it using Acronis True Image with Universal Restore. Both of these do the same thing as SysPrep, but they are paid software unless you can find the PAR CD trial release which is hard to find now.
