Can Windows 7 updates be uninstalled offline?

I have a Sony laptop in that blue screens on bootup in both normal & safe mode & system restore won't work. Windows updates were installed the last day that it booted so I'm pretty sure that's what caused the problem.

The hard drive & memory tested ok & Kapersky's rescue disk didn't find anything so I'd like to remove these updates, but I can't find anything online for doing this. Uninstalling updates with the recovery console was easy for Windows XP, but how do you remove updates with Windows 7?

If you are experiencing BSOD, I suggest you to start a new topic in the BSOD help & support section as there are people with knowledge to solve such issues.

If you can enter Windows and want to remove the latest updates, then use this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24373-windows-update-uninstall-update.html

You can also try sfc/scannow command to correct the system files (you need Windows 7 installation dvd to add the needed files):

Can't you boot is safe mode, or does System Restore not work in safe mode?
If you can't boot in safe mode... of cause you can't even start System Restore.

Which updates do you want to uninstall?

You can attempt a System Restore by booting to the Repair Environment - pick the option to 'Repair my Computer' rather than Safe Mode in the Advanced Boot Menu - this will offer System Restore as an option.
