Can you relocate desktop

Read this tutorial.
Desktop is by default located in C:\Users\Your_Username\Desktop, so you have to relocate all users.

Go to C > Your Name > Links > Properties > Location tab. From there you can move the whole thing.

Links folder contains only shortcuts, so relocating it just relocates the shortcut of desktop, which still points to C:\Users\User\Desktop
You could open the Links folder and go to properties of Desktop shortcut, change the pointer, but for that to work you still have to first create the Desktop folder on another partition and manually copy the content.
It's easier and more reliable to do it as told in that tutorial of Brink's.

Kari is right. I misspoke. You actually have to go the the folder above Links which is Desktop. To get there, double click on C to open it. Then follow the path I gave you with "desktop" (not Links) as last folder. To open the folders just double click. Then on the desktop folder right click and go to Properties. There you will see the Location tab. Then go to "Move".

You can change it by modifing the Registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Desktop
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Desktop
Change the value to the where your stored you desktop on the E: Drive

and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Desktop

I got so excited about the possibilities that I decided to relocate:
C:\Users\User name\AppData\Local to E: also. This is where the profiles and log files for my backup program SyncBackSE are stored and I prefer to have it on E:\. Several log files didn't move and it gave an error message that operation was canceled by User. Now when I do properties the Location tab does not show? What gives?
