Cannot change settings in BIOS

I have purchased an Asus PN53 Mini-PC (R7-735H) and have installed an M.2 2TB SSD and DDR5 16GB. All other firmware is already installed by Asus.

I would like to install Windows 7 as I plan to use this computer for a specific purpose. Needless to say, I am having difficulty so went into the BIOS to check the settings. There are few tabs and those tabs I am unable to open.

I have attempted to boot with a USB drive, and connected with a portable DVD, (not at the same tine) but both options have been ignored. How do I overcome this annoyance? I have spent time on the internet but all I have found so far is how to get into the BIOS which is not the issue.

Help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you, your information which is extremely helpful.

The MiniPC I purchased new a couple of days ago. I inserted the RAM and SSD - no problem. The PC gives little information in the BIOS, mostly irrelevant. There is no option for UEFI. I have original copies of Windows 7, my working copy from 'Atak Snajpera', the Polish fellow. I continually backup with TerabyteUnlimited on my working computer.

All I am able to install on the Mini-PC is Linux. I need to use Windows for a specific program (and portability) and Wine is not managing the program well. I have also used Crossover for this particular program but it crashes often so gave that away. I have emailed the retailer and Asus but their reply is "send me photos". Photos do not work and I really do not want to make a video. I cannot believe that it is so difficult! Assembling computers is the easy part, making the software work can be difficult.

My next step is to change the M.2 to a lower TB incase that is the problem. I cannot go ahead until I have 'something' on the screen.

Thanks!
I thought that I would update the BIOS, but, like everything else it is 'locked'. The Windows that I am using has been updated with all the drivers, including USB3. There is no option for UEFI or Legacy.
