hi all!
i have issues connecting to a network scanner from my windows 7. the scanner is part of a brother 250c printer/fax/scanner device which is usb-located on an imac. on the imac the device is set to be accessible from other systems. on win7 i can access the printer without issues - however the scanner function is not found at all.
can anyone imagine why?
thank you!!!

I don't believe you can share the scanner, just the printer. No way to differentiate between the two. The scanner does not have a different name/address than the printer.

I had the same problem with a Canon 3 in 1. I called Canon and they told me that it was not possible on my model. But they would have models that can do that. Maybe you want to call Brother.
