Solved Cannot connect to wireless although all other computers can

Hi,

Been dealing endlessly with tech support and tried various wifi adapters but won't bore you with the details. I just installed a PCI wireless card (Edimax EW-7722In) and also have a Broadcom NetLink Gigabit card (not wireless).

Basically, everything works fine on other computers in the house so I know it's not the router. The drivers for both the wireless and Gigabit card are correctly installed and even worked earlier today for a while. But now I get no connection and the router seems to be unable to assign me an IP address. DHCP is on, I've tried hard-rebooting the router, taking out the wireless card, and all the other standard stuff.

I've tried manually enterring the IP address, DNS and gateway but that doesn't work either.

IPconfig gives me something very basic:

Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:
Media State .............. : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

And nothing else. I've reinstalled the drivers, disabled and enabled everything, tried all permutations I can think of but nothing works. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Go into command prompt and ping the default gateway that your having problems with to see if get a reply

I'd like to see the ipconfig/all myself.

What other third party programs do you have installed? Which A/V do you have installed?

Do you have iTunes or AVG?

Thanks for the replies guys. I finally - after 8 days and probably 500 permutations - figured out how to fix out, although I have no idea why. I'd tried all the various property settings for both the wired and wireless adapter and nothing seemed to work.

Then I tried unchecking something called "JumpStart Wireless Filter Driver" in the Properties of both the adapters and they both started working. I have no idea why or what the JumpStart driver does. But before unchecking it nothing at all worked and I couldn't get any sort of connection to the router (neither DHCP or static).

That's a new one on me. I wonder why a wired adaptor would have this feature. I'm wondering why the default setting has this feature enabled when it clearly prevents an internet connection. I usually call this sort of setting "sabotage".

This appears to be caused by the Jumpstart Wireless Filter Driver not being (digitally) signed.

I work for a PC repair business. The computer I am working on (Gigabit MB using Win 7 Home Premium x64) tried to install updated drivers for a Netgear wireless USB adapter and errored out because Win 7 requires drivers to be signed. However, it had already installed the driver in the IP stack of both the wired and wireless NICs. I am still looking for signed versions to keep this from happening to my client again. I thought I had it fixed until he tried to connect using the wireless, which he hadn't brought the first time through.
