Cannot detect dvd drive

Hello, i have a dell desktop pc that doesnt show dvd drive on computer...i reinstalled windows 7 64bit and also changed dvd drive but still same problem..can anyone help me out? Also forgot to mention dvd drive doesn’t show up in device manager

Does it show in the BIOS is not it's either dead drive,faulty cable, faulty port

How do I check in BIOS? I think I should assign letter in disk management

If it's not in disk management you can't assign a letter normally drives are displayed on startup or go into BIOS and it should give you list of drives with model numbers

Without knowing your pc its hard to say how to check bios it normally flashs the key to press on start often F2 you press it as soon as it starts before windows loads

Hi lakshi123,

I think to enter the BIOS on a Dell you need to reboot and continualy press F2 until the first screen appears and you see the message Entering Setup. Then just use your arrow keys to navigate to the BIOS.
