Cannot install some updates

Hello everyone,


I cannot install some updates, which are :
KB4524157
KB4532929
KB4536952


These updates are rather old - KB4524157 dates back to october and both other updates about January 14th.


For the KB4524157 and the KB4532929 I went to the Windows update catalog and downloaded the updates manually.


For both updates which I tried to manually install I got an error message.
KB4524157 : following update could not be installed (KB4524157)
KB4532929 : this update cannot be installed, perhaps blocked by another problem on your computer, or not applicable


I didn't try to install manually KB4536952.


It's the computer I use for work - not mine. I'd prefer to solve it myself rather than resorting to IT because I did it sometimes for computers of my own.

Has your Windows 7 SP1 computer been kept up-to-date on a monthly basis?
If it has, KB4536952(January 2020 servicing stack) should be the last update that Windows Update will install as it reaches its official "end of life".

KB4532929 is an update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2.
Do you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 installed, which was released in April 2019?

KB4524157 is the security monthly quality rollup for Windows 7 SP1, which was released in October 2019.

It's a computer I only use for work, it isn't really mine.

I have been working for that firm, and using this computer, for only 4 months.

But I suppose my computer has been updated regularly, because I only have those three updates to make.

How can I know my Microsoft.net version?

If that computer is actually running Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2, version 4.8 should've appeared in the list of important/optional updates in April 2019 or soon thereafter.

Go into Programs And Features, then click the option to view installed updates, then wait for the list of updates to completely load.
The version of Microsoft .NET Framework that's currently installed should be listed there.

If you've been using that computer for the past 4 months and it belongs to the firm you work for, it's my guess its previous user or the I.T. department didn't keep it properly maintained and up-to-date.

Could be a case of "KB4490628 missing".

Hi Lorelie,

HAS your company opted into the Extended W7 update path???

if so then it might be that they have policies in place to hold/defer them currently
might explain the unusuall error message


You will have to ask the IT dept.
