Hello everyone, i am having some issues mapping a network drive to a remote NAS drive, first of all machines are win7 x64 and NAS is a D-Link DNS 320
NAS unit is at my office and all computers can map drive through wired network using internal IP address, all machines have Z: drive showing which prompts for password then access is granted

I wish to connect to this drive from my home machine but i cannot figure it out, there is a static IP address in place and i can access drive via web browser using this static address ie ftp://86.xxx.xxx.223 browser will connect, ask for user & password then grant access, but i cannot map it as a drive which i need to

I am trying to map \\86.xxx.xxx.223\Volume_1 to access the whole drive not sub folders but if poss would actually like to have seperate mapped drives to access sub folders individually but thats a side note mapping anything would be great

When i enter this i get
Map Error.PNG
If i click troubleshoot i get
Capture.PNG
Do i need to add user into map address ? when navigating manually it adds [email protected]

Funny enough i was reading this earlier today in a last ditch effort to sort before starting a thread, but my problem is not (re)connecting at logon its connecting at all!, i know the IP is right as i can ftp in through browser but cannot save as drive which means when saving file in a program for example i cant send it straight to NAS i have to save to desktop FTP & log on to NAS then transfer file, its so annoying i been doing this for 6 months and enoughs enough my keyboard is gonna have a fist hole in it soon

On the NAS - under Shared Folder Access Rights, Have you selected All Accounts or specific Users?.

Did you give them full read / write access? or Read only?

Have you tried creating a user on the nas, using the same logon details you have on your pc at home?

Something so simple, but can cause all sorts of problems.

Is the time and date on the D-Link correct? If it's different from your PC. that can cause issues

1 more thing i can think of:

Have you set a workgroup name on the NAS? If so, All the computers have to match it.

Yes accounts in same name same pasword and has full access rights, its the same account i use to access locally, i have tried accessing whole drive via \\NAS\Volume_1 and also tried specific folders by adding \folder name but cant get anything to work remotely, TBH most of this stuff was done months ago but i gave up for a while and have just come back to this issue so i cant remember every exact variation i tried

The workgroup name im not so sure about ? will look into that but not gonna be at office til monday will see if i can do it via office computer that i can connect to remotely

I see.

Try the other 2 steps I suggested.

Make sure the Date and Time on the NAS match your PC.

Check to see if you have a WorkGroup name set on the NAS. If you do, Your pc will need to match it
