Solved cannot permanently delete temporary files?

I don't send files to Recycle bin, but set to permanently delete files.
On different days, I've Run as Admin- Both CCleaner, Win Disk Cleanup (KIS AV disabled until reboot).

It says about 1gig of temporary files are deleted, if I scan again that day after a couple of reboots they are gone.

But the next day after a cold startup, they are mostly back?


I've Run as Admin- sfc /scannow (3 passes), but says no errors found.

He must have some setting wrong or something, CCleaner has worked perfectly for me for like 9 years or so.

The temp files in your user folder are a normal artifact of Windows. Temp file cleanup should be part of your weekly housekeeping chores.

The OP has temp files return to the tune of 1GB though. I can't figure that one out.

I am befuddled but I'll take a guess.

Under Ccleaner\option\include start adding all of the temp directories you can find. Especially under c:\user\*

Then after a scan check each location to see if they were cleaned. The files may be added back because there is a link from another directory.

May not be the solution but worth a try.

I believe there is an option in settings to not delete temporary files that are less than 24 hours old. You could try unchecking that and then see if it cleans your files though. If that doesn't work, try running a Malwarebytes scan: https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Be sure to uncheck the free PRO trial at the end (unless you want it)

Found the problem, and was Finally able to delete temp files!-

I ran Full scans with MBAM Free, Emsisoft-Kit, and KIS.
-MBAM didn't find any virus, but removed 4 PUP's.
-Emsi was negative.
-KIS found 4 Trojans in the .tmp Folder (2 hidden), and I deleted them...!

- I then ran a chkdsk.
-I was able to permanently delete the .tmp files (using Win Disk cleanup/ Run as Admin) , after the next days cold startup (3 reboots first?).
-I also disabled my KIS AV, until After 2 reboots?

I'm not sure which... Caused the .tmp files to free up, but my system is Much Faster after a Full Puran boot defrag (with another chkdsk...)!

I tried Pro years ago- It dumbly blocked system changes..., severely slowing my computer.
Even after uninstalling it with their Full Remover tool, leftover registry entries kept KIS from installing/running correctly!?
I then ran JV Power Tools Lite (after a Full KIS uninstall/with their removal tool), and was able to delete hundreds of old MBAM registry entries (after enabling AV scan...).
Per KIS forum gurus...- I was Finally able to install KIS with no conflicts (had to temp uninstall Sandboxie too).
