Hi, I am trying to restore a previous image from a DVD but when I get to the "Re-Image your computer", "Scanning for system image disks" it scans but doesn't proceed. The green light flashes on my DVD drive and the blue bar moves across but that is it. I have restored from this DVD before when I first purchased Windows 7 because I wanted to check if it worked, which it then did. When I first created the Image disks it created two. I understand you have to enter the latest disk, i.e. 2 to begin restoration but it simply doesn't seem to be able to read anything. Any suggestions?

Hello templar, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you have not altered the system partition structure in any way there may be an option to recover the PC to factory specs using a built in "Recovery Partition" added when the PC was assembled.

What manufacturer built the PC?

Also if you can still get into Windows, will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map so we can see what you have.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that, it should look similar to this.

Hello, I did notice the DVD could not be read at all. I.e. It did not show up in E:. I didn't format the DVD first as I assumed that Windows Image Backup would do that automatically when creating the Image. I've just made a Back Up and saved it to an external drive instead, so everything's okay now. I just don't understand why my DVD drive can't recognise the disk.
