Cannot reboot cleanly w/o BSOD

Hi there,

I’m having trouble with a BSOD and hope that someone can help.

I have a relatively clean install of Win 7 Home Premium on a HP laptop. The computer works fine except whenever it needs to reboot. All reboots fail - what happens is that when I shutdown, the computer sits on the "Shutting Down" screen for 10 minutes and then it displays a BSOD.

Any help that you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi -

Bugchecks on the 10 mini kernel dumps were identical -

0x9f (0x2, 0x258,,) = driver in an inconsistent power state - a timeout occurred after 258 seconds when the power transition was unable to synch with the PnP subsystem

The Microsoft User-Mode Bus Enumerator driver is listed as the probable cause in 9 of the 10 BSODs - but is not the culprit -

However, this HP filter driver was noted as well -

I have had the same problem on my HP DV7 laptop. I noticed my mute button was constantly orange even when sound was on. I uninstalled the audio driver "IDT High Def..." and rebooted the PC. Surprisingly it restarted with no problem and reloaded the audio driver with no problem. That is what fixed my BSOD and mute button problem.

Did it work

I have the exact same problem with the exact same errors in the .dmp file. I have a HP dv7 as well running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Did updating the drivers fix the issue? Which ones did you update?
