Canon driver not found with W7 ?

OK firstly, he did 3 runs with no spaces so should he run it again ? i just did one run (on my pc) with no spaces and 1 run with the space and i got the same result. My pc is fine obviously but i still have no reference to my printer in device manager even with my printer turned on (mine is the ip3000) the only reference i can find for mine is in the universal serial bus controllers and it says USB printing support !

I have attached the 3 results of his 3 runs. is it imperative he put the space inbetween the SFC and the / and runs it again ?

You are supposed to have the space. I don't know why. Also you have to run it as Admistrator which it appears you did.

Try it again with the space.

It may not fix the problems. 50/50 shot.

Worth a try and better than a reinstall.

The USB printing support is probably the printer driver on yours.

So Dad hasn't even a damaged driver installed which we have to deal with.

FYI

We may get to the point you need to do a Repair Install.

You don't loose any info. It repairs the registry and resets defaults.

If Saturday is a bust on installing the driver then this might be the next step if we don't get any additional ideas or help.
Similar but easier than a install from scratch.
A lot less work and you will need the Win 7 disk.

Ok Mike i will ring him and tell him the correct format for writing the scan thing, if there is no change i might pop down and help with the repair option.

Will doing a repair mean he has to re-install all his programs like Paint shop etc or will they all be there still ?

Sorry to ask a noob question be i never did a repair before only full clean installs

No that is the beauty of the Repair Install. It saves all the personal stuff.
Second box before the tutorial starts. RED outlined by me.

Do a Repair installation if:

• A System Restore did not help fix your Windows 7.
• There is no other easier option left that can fix your Windows 7.
• You DO NOT want to do a Clean reinstall of Windows 7.
• You DO want to preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.

You can try the other stuff first.

Repair Install should fix that stupid screwed up file printui.dll once and for all if needed.

This is what i've got installed for Canon x64 bits drivers....(screenshot). The dates are fresh because i've upgrade the drivers recently, but it works since the beginning here.

You should have at least the first two ones installed in order the printer to work & communicate with the machine. I'm using now v2.5.0 of the drivers and v2.0 of the canon add-on module.

You can see in "Device Manager" more details by "show hidden peripherals" along one of the tab, this should list the printer or not.

Thanks NoN, i will be doing a repair to m dads pc tomorrow so this should fix whatever problem the OS has with this PRINTUI.dll file it cant start.

Thanks for the added input NoN, its appreciated, fingers crossed the repair will allow the same drivers you use to work on dads pc.

RESULT !!!!! hahaha ok, tried the upgrade/repair option and for some reason the disk wouldnt allow us to do it.
Said something about couldnt repair a 32 into a 64 or a 64 into a 32 even though i selected 64 to repair 64 ?
Anyhow, we ended up doing a clean install, didnt take long to be honest (2hrs including all programs) and whatever had corrupted the PRINTUI.dll was rectifed so at least his printer works, as well as all his other bits and bobs.
Its a shame it couldnt of been resolved within windows but we just want to thank you all for giving us plenty of options to try.

My dad sends his regards and thanks you all too, your help is totally appreciated.

I tried to install a older Dell printer and ended up having to run a special program by Dell to remove all traces of the XP printer software and drivers. I then downloaded and installed the Vista driver and got it working.
