It seems like this is an impossible task.

I work at a non-profit (read: no budget) and our 3 computers crashed. We got a new laptop donated and everything is installed on it. However, we cannot find a driver for our copier:

Canon GP 200

Which supports Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

HELP!

We cannot afford a new printer and everything is set aside from this... anyone?

Hi sunnyslope, Welcome to the forums, I'm afraid doing a quick search failed to find a driver for the printer after 2005 and that was for win2000/XP Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : GP200 you may be able to try to install these drivers in compatibility mode :)

I'm not too familiar with compatibility mode... as I own a Mac for my personal use.

Is there a place (web page) I can go for more information relating to this?

I found that no drivers were released after 2005 myself.

I'm at wit's end...

I'm not getting anywhere in compatibility mode... states it is incompatible. Should I:

a) Try to find a universal driver
b) Downgrade the OS to XP?

sunnyslope I dont think you will find a universal driver, you could try running the printer from XP mode within Win 7 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html or partion the hard drive and dual boot win 7 with XP http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html hope this is of help to you :)

power on your canon --start -type -"device manager" - look for image -your printer device status- update driver for w7

you just need to update your printer driver to work

But if you read all the thread you will see that Canon have not released a Win 7 driver for this printer. They probably consider it is too old.

Thanks pebbly for those recommendations.

Ideally, I wanted to be able to run the program in XP mode but we do not have a version of 7 that supports it.

SO.... I'm going to try to install XP as well as it seems that is the last resort.

:(

TRY THIS: Fix via workaround. Install the free virtual PC emulator VMWare Player to Windows 7, then install Windows XP. Then Cannon printer should install no problem. This answer thanks in part to Jay Lee of Tech bytes Radio KPFT Houston TX.
