Can't Associate File Extension with any Program

Hi,

I am trying to associate the .cso (Compressed PSP ISO), with the program UMDGen, but, no matter how many times I have tried, it won't work. Currently, the .cso extension is not associated with any program, so when I try to associate it with UMDGen (after I select the program location), it acts as if nothing happened. Please help, as it is really annoying.

May be you have tried that - but you have to associate it to the .exe of the UMDGen program. Navigate to it in Program Files.

And, when you open that extention, you are presented with a list of applications to choose from, choose the application and make sure the box at below 'Always use this program...' is checked.
If that doesn't work, try associating that from a command window. Sometimes, command prompt does the job where normal mouse clicks don't.

Hi,

The program is a portable program, not an installed one, therefore, not in the Program files folder. I have pointed it to the exe of UMDGen, but even then, as I said in the first post, its just ignoring what I did.

edit: With the assoc in the CMD it says something like 'the file association not found for extension .cso'

Yeah, that is your problem. A portable program may not be available at all times. That's why the association does not work. Can you install the program permanently?

Hi,

Well, actually, it HAS worked before, but a problem arised in my laptop forcing me to reinstall Windows 7. And now, it doesn't work. This program has no proper install, its just portable.
