Edit: Problem solved. Finally :D It's a bit of a mystery why it worked now (see last(?) post, page3). But I'm just happy to have a running OS. Thanks a million to everybody who helped out!!!

I have bought a new computer (an ASROCK nettop) without OS and am trying to install win7 that I have downloaded through the msdn aa centre.

I have after some help realized that my problem is to get an iso file. I can't get it right using the instructions from the thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/30470-make-bootable-iso-student-d-l.html.

My downloaded folder (and therby the DVD) allready has a content like temp.jpg

I would be rally grateful if somebody could help me how to make a bootable dvd!

Edit: Updated with current status.

Sounds like the dvd your making isnt bootable, when you downloaded how did it come as an .iso or separate files, if already separate the tutorial you reffered to should work or if you alreay got an iso you can use MS tool to create and burn bootable iso for you heres the link

Thanks for the (super quick) reply Pauly!

The download was in RAR format. I extracted it to a folder which has the same content as in the image in my original post. I then just burned these files and folders to the DVD (twice, to make sure that wasn't the problem).

Edit: I read your post again and realized that you gave the solution from the start but as my answer above shows, I didn't really get that straight away. Thanks again though.

I'm really super happy to be able to get great help this fast - fantastic!!

I downloaded the program suggested in the post above, added the folder and chose "convert". (if I just choose "save ISO as" I got a winRAR archive I could open). I then got a winRAR archive I could extract to a folder that now contains two files ending .dll and another folder that seems identical to the one on my original dvd.

I understand it as if I burn this folder to a DVD it will then be bootable? (or I guess I should burn the content in the folder to the disc - containing the two "new" files and the original folder). Did I get that correct then?

I used my last writable DVD, so I can't try it now, but I will try to burn one tomorrow. Thank you again for the help - I could never fixed this without it!

you need to create an iso file so the output of the program should be one file with the extension .iso (ie a disc image), im not familiar with the program you got but hopefully computersplus will be back shortly and walk you through it as he will prob now the program if he suggested it

Thanks again Pauly.

That makes sense. I'll try one more time. Otherwise I have your original link (which seems to have quite detailed instructions) to fall back on.

Is this a Torrent download?

I have now tried all the different suggestions in this thread but I simply cannot get it to work. My problem is that I can't create an ISO file.

I've tried to follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/30470-make-bootable-iso-student-d-l.html thread but can't get it to work.

The free isocreater suggested by computerplus seems to work but I only get a rar-archieve as a result, and not an iso-file. If I extract the rar-archieve I'm back to two .dll files plus my original folders with content as in my original post.

I don't know for sure if it was a torrent download (as you might have realized I'm not too much into what things are called) but I would guess so based on that you can start the download from MSDL and then resume the download at a later time.

Thank you for your patience with me - I really appriciate it!!

I'm using the free ISOconverter suggested by computersplus earlier in the thread. It seems to work as described only that the outcome is not the expected iso-file.

The original sourse is a web site from the msdn program (as teacher in a swedish high school): Kärrtorps Gymnasium

I tried vlite, but it doesn't recognise the folder containgn the files as expected. I have tried to rename the folder to expandedsetup (and some other names as well), but without any success.

I've done that allready. Yesterday I asked a friend to download it to his computer to see if it works better. Hopefully I will get an update about that later today or at least tomorrow. I realized now I should try also with another version, I allready have another downloaded that I will try to "ISO-fy" tonight.
