Solved can't boot to ANY boot disc

Hey Essenbe, Your post makes me think to ask 2 questions ... .

1) Are the chipset drivers circled in red that are noted on the download that I have already done different from the
Sandybridge ones you mentioned? I just saw how the management engine download noted the chipset drivers.



2) If the answer to the question above is that they are 2 different types of chipset drivers, and I should ALSO download and install the Sandybridge one below. Do I run any unexpected risks downloading and installing those as well? By risk, I mean can I screw anything up on my computer by doing the install, based on the fact I already installed the engine drivers? Sorry if I sound paranoid, but I just don't want to make my problems worse.

I believe they are 2 seperate things. The first one says Intel Management engine and the second says Sandy Bridge Chipset drivers. There should not be 2 chipset drivers for the same board.You can do it however you think best. But if you want to try it and are worried, Right click computer and select properties, then in the left column select advanced system settings, click on the system protection tab and at the bottom click 'create a system restore point now'. Just make sure in the window above that system restore is on for your OS drive (which you should do anyway). Then if it messes the system up, you can restore it back to the way it was. But it should not mess your system up. If you want to talk to your tech rep, then wait until you talk to him. I understand you being a little paranoid. It's no problem. I don't know how MSI does things, but chipset drivers and Intel management engine are 2 seperate things. They at least shouldn't give the same thing 2 different names.

Hi Mr. Paranoid thanks you for your quick reply I will definitely do exactly as you suggest regarding the create a system restore prior to the install. Tell me if this makes sense...

-If for some reason the new sandybridge chipset drivers were included in the Management engine drivers download I made earlier... than worse case scenerio if I downloaded the sandybridge drivers, it would basically just right over the same files ... would that be correct?

- final question, if there is some problem that would come about by making this download/install.... would it most likely happen immediately upon reboot.... like a blue screen or black screen?

There are others here who are much better than me about drivers. But, to the best of my knowledge, the answer to both questions is yes. When you reboot, the new drivers will be active.

Well.... Good news is I downloaded and installed the sandybridge drivers without any problems.... bad news is that I still black screen if usb legacy is enabled and the external drives are plugged into the usb 3 and usb 2 ports. Gonna call it a night.... thanks for your help essenbe
