Can't copy & paste--any other way?

If you open "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items" you can not capture what is on the screen using Ctrl-C.

Is there any other method one can use to get the screen information into a text format? (No scanner)

Actually I am trying to get a printout of the long list of administrative maintenance actions--Action Center (15), Administrative tools (9), AutoPlay (3), etc.
(C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}) but the control panel example above works the same way and not everyone has this shortcut.)

If you're used to XP, did you try shift+printscreen?

Okay, I learned how to use the Snipping tool. Unfortunately, it only produces a .png picture and what I need is a way to get editable text into Word. Did I miss something?

It produces more than .png files. Choose the type of file when you save it.

Copying text or imaging dumping?

If the latter, i know of one tool that can do any size dumps, all you do is move you mouse cursor over the image,screen. Your Alt+PrtSc/ PrtSc will be history.

Have you tried highlighting the the text, then drag and drop onto wordpad/notepad?
Save as .txt and you will be able to open it later as text format.

MacGyvr: Yes, I see that it will save different formats, but they are all images, no text.
aem: I am interested only in copying text, not images.

Thanks for trying to help, but I guess this is not possible. I will have to use the snipping tool to create images and then find someone with a scanner and OCR software.

Just to close this thread, I now have, in Word 2000 format, the full list of items on the administrative maintenance file. It is six pages long (but I printed it out two pages per sheet). I may be the only person in the world who wants a hard copy of this but if anyone else is interested I would be glad to make it available. However, at this time I don't know how that can be done other than by PM. Maybe there is a place on this site where such files can be uploaded?
