Hi,

I turn to you people again, because I had some good suggestions from you in the past, so I hope you will be able to help me again :)

Yesterday my friend brought me a movie on a flash drive, I watched it no problem, I turned off my laptop when I went to sleep. The next day when I turned it on, NIGHTMARE. Performance seriously slowed down, waiting approx. 5 min to start up Google Chrome, and so on...

I suspected the movie to be a problem, so I tried to delete it, but no luck. All I get is a discovering window, which I let discover for about 2 hours, but still nothing.

Tried in safe mode, same thing. Scanned it with a AVG, nothing. Looked up on the web how to force deleting with "cmd" no luck. Any other suggetions?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.
Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)

can you move it into a folder then try delete the folder with the movie in it.

also ,what media player did you use to watch it. try opening a different movie file using the same player, then see if the movie your friend gave you will delete, in case it was tied to the player for some reason.

Sounds like your friend's flash drive left you an unwanted gift, a malware. The movie may have it embedded and playing it released it.
Try two things:
1.Below my sig is a link to Malwarebytes, download it, update definitions. It has a tool called File Assassin, see if that will delete the movie. Then run a full scan with it.

2.Try this tutorial and run this scan too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/166445-windows-defender-offline.html

OK, I solved the problem, managed to delete the file.

First, I tried everything you guys told me, and it took me a little while because of how slow my PC was running, even my cursor started freezing from time to time. As I said I tried everything but nothing seemed to work.

Than just a few seconds ago, I thought "Hey, maybe I should try deleting it from my Administrator account." Than I switched to my Admin. Acc. Another funny thing is, when I changed acc. my PC was running fine, no freezing of any sort, went to the desktop from my other acc. and found the movie. I pressed delete, and in 0.0001 seconds it deleted the file no problem what so ever. Than I switched back to my regular acc. and again, the computer was running like it did before, fast and furious.

I want to thank all you boys and girls for your patience and good will. I am no computer expert, I have no idea what I did and why this worked for me. :D

Cool, good to hear you found a fix and thanks for posting back with it.
Maybe it was some permissions issue.
