Where do I find more gadget for windows 7?

Hi microsoft removed the gadget gallery, to focus on windows 8 and help stop malware. There are plenty of programs that can replace this however.
1. Rainmeter : Rainmeter, desktop customization tool
2. Yahoo widgets : Yahoo! Widgets
3. Pokki : https://www.pokki.com/ (More of an app store for your computer)
I personally recommend rain meter, but if you want something more similar to windows default gadgets, i think yahoo would be the way to go.

Might try it for safety reasoning. Just anyone be careful with any downloads. So many gadgets who knows what kind of mware could be lying inside of those rar files.

i liked the core temp gadget. but they update it software where you have three instants of processor temp instead of one. plus it used more resourses.

the 1.0 had 3 in task bar on mine, plus when it was idle processor stayed at 5% and never went any lower. the .99 had just 1 in task bar and processor at idle was at 0 to 2%. when ever it showed the temp above 54c, i would clean fan and heat pipe, temp then would be at 46c to 52c.

My understanding of Microsoft's Security Notice was that all gadgets from what ever source or creator were a security problem. Is this a misunderstanding on my part?

Gadgets provide a vector for attack. If the gadget is not from a site that can be trusted, therein lies the issue. But yes, any gadget could be a security issue. A Guy

most of the tech gadgets you downloaded, you had to download a software for it to work. and that was one of the problems we faced by being redirected to their site. some gadgets were from other countries that are well known for hackers.

And about halfway down the page are two Fix-It applications you can download and execute, one that disables gadgets and one that re-enables gadgets.

I tried the disable sidebar and gadgets fix earlier and after a reboot, when you right click on the desktop and goto the gadgets a little pop-up message informs you they've been disabled by the systems administrator which is easy enough to undo should you change your mind later on and decide you miss your weather or cpu widgets.
