Can't find the problem - I cannot install IE11

Friends,

I have run the scannow command multiple times -- (the problem is that I cannot install IE11 because I keep being told to download updates...but then am told that all updates are installed, EXCEPT for IE11) --
I have the log, and other than one mention of "verifying 81 (0x0000000000000051)" everything else seems nominal. I have spent several days prowling the forums for a way to update my system to IE11 and am pretty much out of ideas. I am attaching the scan log is that is any help

running IE8 because Windows 7 will not let me update to any other version. (I/ve tried 9 with the same results as 11. Asks me to download updates that are already installed.

I am sending you the three IE11 logs that I can find in the Windows\Logs file. I did not find one called IE_11Main. The CBS log you want is too big for this forum The max size is 2MB and that file is 3.99. I am open to suggestions as to how to send it, and thank you for looking at this.

I had a friend's computer running Windows 7 without SP1. After getting SP1 finally added, was able to upgrade IE to 10 or 11, can't remember exactly right now. Your Windows 7 has SP1 installed, correct?

yes, I am running SP1. Also, for Roy, I feel stupid, but I can't find instructions on how to use the Seven Forums zip routine. Can you point me in the right direction?

Hi Justin,

Thats a big ol log, but i cant see anything wrong.

I would like you to remove AutoKms, i have no idea why its on your system unless you have any pirated software.
It creates a loop back to validate, but theres no reason you need it for W7 as the product key appears genuine and theres no other indication within the Mgadiag.

Can you also reset IE8
Control Panel >> Internet options > Advanced tab... restore

Reboot

try updating

Do you have any language packs installed.

Roy,
I deactivated and removed (I think) the AutoKMS program. Don't know where it came from. As you say, my Windows installation is completely kosher, bought and paid for. I reset IE8, rebooted, but have the same problem. IE 11 does not install, and I get a 9C57 error.

This is vexing, and I really appreciate the time you are taking to help. I'm out of ideas, short of completely reinstalling Windows 7, or going to Windows 10. That is probably what I should do, although the thought of wiping my drive, and reinstalling all the programs I run on this machine is daunting.

If you have any thoughts that would help me avoid reformatting, I'd be grateful.

As to SP1, I believe it is installed...the properties screen for Windows 7 says it is. Is it possible that somehow that installation was flawed and should be done again?

Justin

Roy,

I was unable to download the ISO for W7 Pro SP1 because the Microsoft website would not accept my Proof of License code. I have to call them in the morning. I do have the disks, both 32-bit and 64-bit. Don't they have a recovery program on them?

The info on the Dell program you suggested seems to imply that using it will wipe the hard drive, reformat, and then put down a clean version of W7...which I would like to avoid if at all possible.

I am a flight simmer, and I have all my support programs on the W7 computer (FSX:SE is on my main computer that has W10.) There are so many small but useful programs, as well as Microsoft office and Adobe C3, and I would hate to have to try to recreate everything I have built on that box over the years.

If it comes to that, I might as well put W10 on it as well...but I'd sure like to avoid that grief if possible.

I will try to call Microsoft in the morning. Meanwhile, thanks again for all your help.

Justin

Hi Justin,

MS wont provide you with a new Iso UNLESS you have a Retail product - yours is OEM

Using the Dell link i provided you CAN perform a repair install - NO LOSS of YOUR data
I posted a tutorial link earlier.
