Solved can't get higher resolution than 1024*768

Hey guys, sorry to bother you.

I have this problem where I can't get a higher resolution than 1024*768

My work PC is this:

- Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Edition P2501 (serial no: YK2G021421)
- Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.60 GHz (2 CPUs)
- Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
- 2GB RAM
- DirectX 11
- Windows 7 Professional 32 bit (Service Pack 1)

My monitor is this:

- HP ProDisplay P202

The recommended settings of my monitor are 1600*900 (60 Hz), but my screen resolution can't get higher than 1024.

I have tried to automatically update the display adapter driver from device manager, but it says that the driver is up-to-date, although it's a 2006 driver

I have searched for an up-to-date driver on the Fujitsu websites, but I can't fiind anything

Please help

P.S: Before win7, i had win xp and it ran perfectly, i had a normal resolution (1600*900 I think), but after I installed win 7 I can't get the resolution higher anymore

You haven't installed a graphics driver. Unfortunately I can't find any Intel GMA 900 graphics drivers for Windows 7.

This Microsoft Answers page does give some relevant info but it does not look like good news, as the system was never certified for Windows 7 ( Intel decided it could not run Aero so did not bother to write a driver) ...

The only way I can think of is to find a suitable Add on Graphics card I've looked but cannot find the type of expansion port fitted to the motherboard as the system is a 2009 era It could be PCI (best) or AGP (harder to find) but cannot confirm this

This may be of some use, (check the Peripheral versions) ...

Have you installed any windows updates since the install of win-7 ?
Have you installed the chipset driver from the computer manufactures website ?

Windows updates have been installed.
Chipset drivers i don't know.

Will Snappy driver installer get the job done?

I have no idea what snappy driver is
You should be able to get all drivers from the manufactures website
Use the snid on the case sticker to make searching easier
Vista drivers should be just fine if listed.

How many windows updates have been installed ?
There have been close to 300 updates and that is assuming you used 7 sp1 installation media.

I don't think that the updates will be any help, however many you install as as far as I have been able to ascertain Intel never wrote a driver for this hardware for windows 7, which would also of course mean that neither Siemens or Microsoft would have anything to distribute

The addition of a graphics card is a way to stay with Windows 7, and assuming that it is an AGP card needed, I have seen some AGP Cards for Win 7 on eBay starting at around 25 Leu (£4.95 Pre-owned), which may or not an option for you, ( windows 7 has support from Microsoft until 2020 whereas Vista and XP are out of support ), Hopefully you can find a solution that works for you

There's enough variety of AGP video cards that are compatible with Windows 7. For example, the HD 4650 and HD 4670 come in AGP and they are DX 10.1 graphics cards.
