Hi all,

I have had a very bad 2 weeks with computers. Firstly I had a notebook hard drive that died on me, and I put in my older notebook hard drive which was originally in this notebook from a year ago....all was working fine and then I get the BSOD. It is usually the IRQ Not less or equal but occasionally no message or system service exception.

I have tried putting different ram in, putting this HDD into a different notebook/PC and it still has the same issue. BSOD happens occasionally in safe mode but basically instant in normal mode.

I suspect it is a virus however I have not been able to find anything. However I could not install Kaspersky (as it wouldnt let me due to some problem so it advised to use their AVP tool instead which I did) it found some things and removed but still same issue. Also used Super Antispyware twice, Spybot twice and Malwarebytes twice. All in complete scan. I also notice that when I search in search engines and I click on the links it comes up with it will redirect to random sites (which would be some virus but whether or not its related is another thing) and still scanning using Kaspersky avp tool I cannot find anything, yet cannot still install their normal version.

This is an older install of my Win 7 x64 Ultimate and does not have SP1 etc on it and I cannot run Windows Update to get that done either. Is it possible to download SP1 somewhere?

I have attached all the necessary info as the request from the BSOD post instructions. However perfmon did not work, it gives me some msg saying:

Error:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

Please help as I am extremely frustrated :(

Hello,

Start by running the Kaspersky TDSS Killer Tool: How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?

See if that picks up anything.

I see some older drivers which should be updated; the most important ones are below:
Code:

If the BSODs persist, run driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Thanks for the reply.

I run the tdskiller, got rid of the browser redirection thing. Havent tried booting into normal mode just yet.

I will go onto HP's site and update what I can. I done all this with my HDD that died on me, so wasnt sure what has been done on this one.

Windows Update still does not load, or is it because I am in Safe Mode?

I get a BSOD again but it seems to be some other problem other than before. I tried a few times, it mentions something about IO......seems the other issue was corrected since I get this issue but not this one.

And those drivers you listed above as needing updated they refer to intel site etc and you do a search and the drivers cannot be found on their site to download. I have updated the graphic drivers & wifi drivers however via HP's site.

Here are the Intel drivers you want: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18713&ProdId=2775&lang=eng

Windows Update won't load in Safe Mode, no.

Driver Verifier stresses drivers, testing to see if they fail. When they do, the computer BSODs, and the resulting logs can be helpful.

None of the drivers I listed have been updated as of the last report; try updating them directly from the manufacturers' sites.

Thanks Jonathan, I will give that a shot. The screen I am getting is definitely a driver issue I think.

I cannot install the graphics driver. It says it fails trying to install it. It doesnt give me a reason as to why it wont either.

However I figured since I cannot install that driver from your link that maybe I can just remove the driver altogether as that should not want to install until it goes past the login screen. Well I tried this and still cant even get to the login screen. When I had the issue with the IRQ No less or equal I could at least get to that screen and attempt to login. But I just get that the IO manager finds a conflict....possibly due to 'verifier' is finding.

I will try and put my hdd in another notebook tomorrow and see what happens then.

Totally confused!

By the way I cannot also install Kaspersky AV still yet everything works fine in Safe mode and I have not had one BSOD.

Ok I disabled Verifier and rebooted and seem to get into Windows again fine. The video card install must not of liked installing in safe mode either cause that now installs. Things seem to be working ok, will see if get anymore BSOD.
