hey there,

I'd like to search within the c:\users\username\appdata folder which is a hidden folder.
I think its content is excluded from the search because even if I put a file there to test, I can't find it via search.

What setting do I need to change to get search results from that location?

thx

wasn't sure where this question would fit so feel free to move it!

Remember, searching from Start Menu only searches indexed locations. By default, AppData is not indexed. Searching from Explorer searches the current location plus all its subfolders (also non-indexed locations). So, in order to search AppData, open Explorer and browse to AppData folder, then search.

Here's for instance a search for files whose name include string "Chrome" in my AppData folder (filename:Chrome). Search had non whatsoever problems:

You searched from Explorer > AppData and did not find your files? I am sorry but I am unable to reproduce this issue. As the screenshot in my previous post shows, I have no problems in searching AppData.

Please open Explorer and browse to AppData. Do a search, any search, and take a screenshot of your Explorer window showing search results when search is ready, then post it here.
