I am unable to get system restore to work, it was working fine up until recently and now every time I open system restore it says : 'No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive. To create a restore point open System protection' System Protection is turned on but it is still not working. Can somebody please help?

When I was still on XP, System Restore was hit or miss at best. I never could get it to work at all with Win 7 so I turned it off and I now use an imaging program, Macrium Reflect Free, to make an image of my OS and programs (I have them on their own, separate boot drive on my desktop machine and a separate partition on my notebooks' single SSD) before changing or updating anything. An image is the computer equivalent of a photo negative that can be used to restore the OS and programs to the state they were in when the image was made, much like a photo negative is used to make a print. I've yet to have a verified image fail to restore my computer.
