Solved Can't get Windows 7 to upgrade to Windows 10

dell xps 15z 64bit 6/500. fresh install of windows 7.
all drivers installed, every thing ok.

upping to windows 10. message says it can't upgrade. i try to make sure that all windows updates are current.
another problem:
"failure configuring windows updates. reverting changes."

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I believe it is recommended to Uninstall any antivirus programs before attempting the upgrade was that done ?

Since this is a fresh install, did you install Service Pack 1 yet?

Check if there are any incompatibilities - Download Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor

yes, sp1 is installed. i will try upgrade advisor, but this system has already passed the upgrade advisor with an earlier installation of windows 7.

Either way just keep checking for windows updates and load them when offered win-10's will come

would it help if i did a cold reinstall of windows 7?

You can try a restart not sure I would do a shut down though if windows is still searching ?
Restarts are pretty normal to install updates.
