Cant Install Nero 7 on Windows 7

Hey i just switched from windows xp to new windows 7 ultimate edition.
i tried to install Nero 7 on it to burn some dvds.
but whenever i tried it it showed me "some files missing" error.
what shud i do, now?
The same Nero soft was working fine with windows xp.
please help

You can use this free program instead. Try it and see if it does what you need. I use it with Win 7 64bit.

CDBurnerXP; works good. It reminds me of an older version of nero, on XP!
Something about that bugs me a little bit but it burns - copys dvd disks fairly well.

for those that don't know windows 7 handles burning differently than either vista or xp. this is why so many people continue to have problems with older burning suites. usually just switching to an up to date burning software like CDBurner XP mentioned above will solve the issue. only wanted to mention it because i've notice these problems crop up a lot and thought i'd make sure everyone was aware of the cause.

Could you breifly explain the difference?
I would presume it was a software issue on a new platform (xp - 7).

the best i've been able to understand it's got to do with the way the new driver's work and an integrity check that cause a lot of the older burning softwares to not work. i know this happens often with nero's products and convert2dvd as well as several other's.

I have managed to install and successfully use Nero 7, I know of a way to do this and have no problems.

Before any of this make sure you right click Nero 7 and make it look like:

1: Disable your internet connection from your machine (in other words unplug your Ethernet or turn off the WiFi).
2: Start your installation, follow all the steps to install.
3: Reboot if necessary
4: If this did not work then try again, but I have successully done it this way.

*scratches head* Nero 7 works perfectly fine on Windows 7 (both platforms) and always has. You don't need any special tweaks, either, just install and use.

When that error window is closed it gives an 'internal error' window which states -

Searching on other forums suggests this is an incompatibility problem, I tried to run the install in compatibility mode but that doesn't work either.

So if you have any suggestions other than using a different programme or buying a later version I am happy to try it.

This is the first time that I have had an installation problem, btw.

thanks for the suggestion but does this programme have a wave editor? can i edit video, create titles, or slideshows, and a lot more?

If all i wanted to use Nero for was burning discs I wouldn't have bothered as i can use Roxio or Ashampoo burning studio but Nero has a lot more to it.

It does look like I will have to invest in the latest Nero or Roxio suite

What about Nero 6?

Strange that some people have trouble with Nero 7. Maybe it is just a certain portion of the suite that fails to install in Windows 7?

I installed Nero 6 (buring ROM) and updated to version 6.6.1.15 and it works perfectly fine on win 7 64-bit. It did come up with a generic 'this program is not compatible with this version of windows' but I disabled the message from coming up again I think with a don't show again checkbox in the message.
It was a Windows message.

Heck, it runs fine on Windows 8.0 64-bit too! I don't know about the rest of the Nero 6 suite, or Nero 7 personally.
