Can't install Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit?

I agree this makes ISO or burn less the likely culprit but we should still rule out DVD install and drive.

I know you said you break flash sticks but have you tried a flash stick install? If possible write the ISO to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in the dropdown menu, boot under USB, Removable or HD's.

If this fails try wiping the HD to clear the boot sector: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Reset the BIOS to optimal defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS set SATA controller to AHCI to try install. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.

If it fails let us know at exactly which step and what happens: Clean Install Windows 7. Include exact text of any error message.

Test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, then test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ .

As my 2x 4gb fs are broken along side my 8gb. I have no choice but to install XP or find a blank dvd. I shall clean my hdd and remove my win7 hdd and reset my bios. If all goes well i shall give a shout. Thanks, Greg. I really appreciate your help. :p

No prob. We'll get it installed.

Why are you removing your Win7 HD? Isn't that where you want to reinstall?

I'd unplug any other HD's besides the Win7 HD, and other peripherals.

i want it installed on my secondary hdd. Not partition. Please tell me i dont have to install on partition for dual-boot?

You can install a Dual Boot on separate HD's, in fact it's the best way.

But I would take advantage of having separate HD's by unplugging the existing OS HD while installing the other.

Then after install boot the preferred OS HD by setting it first to boot in BIOS setup.

When you want the other OS boot it's HD using the one-time BIOS boot menu key at boot.

This keeps the HD's independent.

Do you have Dual Boot now? How is it configured? You are wanting to reinstall 64 bit over a 32 bit Win7 on one HD, correct?

Not quite. I want to keep my existing hdd (32 bit ultimate win7) and want to install 64bit home premium on my other. I want my 32 bit kept becaure of important software. And i bought 64 bit because in about 5 months i plan on buying a new computer (gaming) with 8gb ram and want it all setup for when i get it. (i have several game discs to install. And because i plan on upgrading my current to 4gb ram, i want to utilize my whole ram. Sorry for confusion. Im currently copying items i had on my hd from partition for clean hdd. Then its reset bios and try to instal xp 64.

I would def unplug 32 bit Win7 HD before trying install of 64 bit. Keep it unplugged until after install, then boot it using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen which on HP is ESC or F9.

yeah, it says at the start. What do i do if it still showr me the whole 'error loading os'

You're going to need to work through the steps which have been given so far first, asking back questions if necessary to get them done correctly, then report back results.

Then we will have more steps which always lead to success - if necessary installing in another machine or imaging the OS onto the HD.

If you can't find a DVD and need to install XP first, then be sure to choose the XP partition to install Win7 so it overwrites XP. It will place the XP install in a windows.old folder you can delete later. This is not that bad of an install even though it's not completely clean. I did one recently. But remember you need the disk for repairs, anyway.

Okay will do. I rhall be back in an hour or so with results. :D

Okay. Sorry I took so long. I fell asleep ._.
I cleaned the HDDD and removed my Windows 7 Ultimate HDD and rebooted my computer. I pressed F10 to enter setup(BIOS) and I went to the EXIT menu and pressed Enter on "Load setup Defaults". I Then proceeded to install Windows XP 64-bit. It installed. But as it was rebooting to finalize the install, the only error I got was "A Hard Disk Read Error Occured...... Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to Reboot"
I am so confused about this and want to smash my New HDD for the sake of my stress ...-Rages- .__.

I just borrowed a friends Windows Magazine. It includes EasyBCD. He said he had the same issues and that I can use it to add Windows xp to boot loader. Hopefully this works. I shall give it a try when I get home.

EDIT: Well it seems that failed. I also did a little research. All I found on my HDD was the folder "WINDOWS" and no others like program files or anything. I thought this might be helpful as usually you only activate and add users on reboot. Sorry if this was important. If this isn't right, might my XP Disc be damaged and should I ISO it and try to boot it off of my 2gb Flashdrive? Thanks (:

EasyBCD isn't necessary with separate HD's - just boot them via the BIOS Boot menu.

Is your new install running or did it stall at chkdsk error? Run Disk Check either way, from DVD Command Line if it won't boot. System Recovery Options

The other HD should have been unplugged during install. As soon as install completes successfully, plug it back in and boot it when needed using one-time BIOS Boot menu key which on HP is ESC or F9.

I did unplug my other HDD when I installed it. I even removed my TV Tuner card and reset BIOS. I tried booting XP (Without any other HDD) That failed and gave me the error I posted Earlier. I also tried booting with my Win7 and Windows 7 didn't even recognise windows XP was on the other HDD. :(

Have you reset the BIOS to optimal defaults yet? if not Enter BIOS setup to do that now.

Before wiping the HD again, run a Disk Check on it from DVD Command Line accessed by pressing Shift + F10 key at first screen, or access System Recovery Options. The commands are in the Disk Check tutorial.

Leave the other HD unplugged. Unplug all other peripherals, too.

Next wipe the HD and try install again: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation. Dont' partition at all, just select the HD and click Next at drive selection screen.

This time if it fails report back the exact wording of the error message.

So when XP wouldn't start, you burned Win7 to DVD, booted it and tried install which proceeded until it failed at end of install needing Disk check? How did you burn the DVD?

Okay. I don't have any discs yet. Got about 4 more days. But the reason I want to be able to enter Windows XP 64-bit is because I know I can run a 64-bit Iso of a 64-bit OS. As I have had so much trouble with this, I may just wait till I can get a DVD. Here's what I did from start (With max details)

Used Command Prompt to "Clean All" On my 250gb HDD (The one for which the 64-bit OS will be installed)
I shut down my computer. I removed my TV Tuner card and Un-plugged my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit OS HDD. I then proceeded to reboot my Computer and enter BIOS by pressing F10. I went into the "EXIT" Menu and selected the Option "Load BIOS Defaults" (There is no optimal default)
I then proceeded by rebooting my computer and inserting the Windows XP Professional 64-Bit Disc. I went into my BIOS and selected "First Drive - Atapi DVD-RW"
I ran the setup, formatting my whole HDD (Not quick) It then installed and said "Windows will restart your computer to complete the Installation. Press Enter to reboot now." (There was a 15 second timer)
As it was rebooting it asked me whether I would like to boot from CD or not. I left it. I got the following Error "A Hard Disk Error Occurred....Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to Reboot"
I rebooted to try again. No Luck. I then proceeded by re-plugging in my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit OS and went to see if Windows XP Would show in Dual-Boot. It didn't. So I logged on to Windows 7 Ultimate and went and checked my Other HD. The only thing on it was "WINDOWS" No Program files or anything. Everything was still inside of Windows, but that was it. I also tried to boot from CD but it tried to re-install it. :D

EDIT: I didn't Partition it either.

You can run Disk Check from Vista DVD Command Line, accessed by selecting Repair console on second screen after booting.

Why don't you ask a friend to loan you a DVD

Is this a Seagate HD? If so I would also burn SeaTools to CD to run a bootable scan which can repair bad sectors if needed, and settle if the HD is good.

Because he doesn't buy them. He's like me, buys software online and uses PowerISO to install them.
I'm just going to give up and mark this thread as closed. Thanks alot Greg. I shall have to wait till I have a DVD. I Shall message you on how well the Disk Check goes (:

Keep the thread open until you get Win7 installed. You can only mark it Solved and it's not.

I've never seen a DVD be such a big issue. You need the disk for repairs, too.

Here we have Walgreens where good quality DVD's are on the wall rack @ 5 for $2.
