Solved Can't RDP to Windows 7 machine

I have a headless Windows 7 machine that just sits and runs quietly. Occasionally I RDP in to make a change, but normally, it just runs with no issues.

I lost power a week ago, and the machine went down hard. I am now just getting a chance to look at it. I brought it back up, but I can't RDP to it. I put a monitor and keyboard on it, and everything looks good, I can't see any issues, but I still can't RDP to it. I ran troubleshooting on the RDP process, and it came back with no issues, but I still can't RDP to it. I check my firewall, virus protection everything that I can think of, but I still can't RDP. I've run out of idea's.

If someone can give me some hints or suggestions on what else to look at, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Daryl

P.S. I forgot to mention that I can ping the machine and I can also telnet to port 3389, so that tells me that RDP is listening and there is nothing blocking the port.

Thanks

Daryl

Try connecting via IP instead of name

Your specs say home premium. RDP connections are allowed on Professional, ultimate, and enterprise but not the home versions.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for my late reply. And thank you to everyone who did reply and make suggestions. I finally found a setting in my RDP client that was the issue. Not sure how it got changed, but it did. I was blaming the Windows 7 machine because of the power outage, but it was really on the client.
