Hello,

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my PC. No problems, except for a bunch of strange, locked files that appeared on one of my drives. I don't know where they came from. I don't know how to remove them. I don't know if they're important or not.

I would click on them, and it gives me a bunch of files that have numbers on them (see picture url below), when I open that, it says "I don't have permission to access this folder". It tells me to gain access to this folder I "will need to use the security tab". I click on the security tab > continue, and then I am not sure what to do.

Stuff like that is exactly why one of the first things I install after doing an OS install, is "Grant Admin Full Control". (I call it 'Take Ownership' on Steroids) After it's installed, it shows up in your Right Click context menu and allows you to become the Owner of any file of folder on your PC. In some cases, you may still have to look at the "Properties" of a file and take OFF the Read Only attribute, before you can really do what you want with the file.

It just makes working with Windows a whole lot simpler.;)

Good Luck!

The take ownership didn't work for me, so I just downloaded Windows Unlocker, and was able to delete all those files.

Thanks for your help!
