I have been plagued by the scorpion services adware for the last several weeks. Every time I think I've removed it, it comes back. Interestingly, it will usually show up in the Control panels Uninstall Programs area. And some times it is in Revo's uninstall program. When removed using the
CP, is is simply removed without any notifications; however, when removed by Revo I get the following alert about a key that can't be removed:

software\WOW6432Node\microsoft\windows\current version\explorer\browser helper objects...verify that you have sufficient access to the data key.

I believe that this key is the key to removal, but when I do regedit, I can't find it or if is there, it won't remove??? And, how do I "verify sufficient access?"

However, all this isn't that simple. I had just removed Scorpion via the CP (Scorpion was not present in Revo this time), I then did regedit>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software...etc, and the suspect key wasn't there??? But I don't know for sure if it was there before I went to the CP to remove Scorpion because I didn't check this time before using the CP uninstall.

You might want to consider doing a full scan using Windows Defender Offline.

I would use WDO with a USB stick, but you can use a CD if you want.

You can also use Kasperky's Rescue Disk to scan things for another offline opinion. Infections can hide from real-time scanners; hence offline scanners (where the operating system being scanned is not running).

Next time I see Scorpion raising its ugly head, I'll try WDO.

I meant to convey that a hidden infection could be bringing the Scorpion software your way.

So, you could be infected right now and not know it. But then again, that is always a possibility.

Did a lot of key cleaning and routinely have been checking my Control Panel's uninstall and Revo uninstall and Search Everything for signs of Scorpion after individual site loading and so far so good.
