Hello - I do not want my favorites bar organized in alpha order. I want an order that is more useful to me, but everytime I drag them around, my favorites go back to alpha order when I reopen IE. I do not mean the drop down favorites list, I mean the bar across the top. IE*, Win 7.
Thank you

I don't use IE 8 but I just tried opening IE8, going to my site, making a favorite on the bar, moving the order around, closing, reopen. It was the way I left it. Could you be using Private Browsing Mode? That may force changes to be for the session only.

I'm usin IE8 and the Favorites Bar items stay where I put them. Maybe you should try the "Lock the Toolbars" option. Or perhaps reset IE: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

I tried locking the toolbar, not in private browsing mode (if I had been I'd think the favorites would not still be visible as opposed to be rearranged). If I leave my machine for an extended time, it powers downa nd when I log back in the buttons are all arranged in alpha order. I have given up and am not very fond of Win 7 right now....

If your used to XP (or Win98 in my case) it's a bit of a jolt going to Vista and even more of a jolt going straight to 7. It's even more frustrating when adding to 7 the latest (buggy) versions of IE and Windows Live Essentials. I'm satisfied with Windows 7 32-bit, Windows Live Mail 2009, and IE8. Regarding your specific IE problem, all I can suggest is make sure you don't select the option to "sort by name" and to "reset" IE when it's not behaving itself.
