Hi all
In XP/my old machine, in the audio record mixer I could grab analog audio using line in samling, i.e, I muted the microphone and set the line-in. then, every sound that was going thru my sound card could be captured using any audio grabber software.
My problem now is that in my new machine/ windows 7 / realtek HD, using the control panel-> Hardware and sound-> Manage Audio Devices -> Recording, the line in option cannot be selected because nothing is plugged there.

in W7 I can't select the line in. it says that nothing is plugged
what is wrong?

Many Thanks

Are you trying to record from an external source? For line-in to work, the source needs to be present. However, if it is internally generated sound that you wish to capture, then you need Stereo Mix (often referred to as What U Hear).

i had the same problem.

i had to install my motherboard drivers because it was a new pc with new mobo, new cpu, new HDD new everything.

took me 5 hours to figure that out lol.

also you can try right clicking in SOUNDS> recording tab section and checkmark hidden devices.

also if you get muffled recordings, make sure you disable all enhancements.

im able to record sound through my sound card/chipset provided with my motherboard. man this is sweet

i hope i helped :x

found it. Tnx

On the recording tab, right-click gave me the options to select disabled devices, so I enabled the stereo mix. Now I can record "what I hear" without the need to connect anything. this is strange that I didn't find any left-click way to get to this menu.
