Can't Set Up Gmail In Thunderbird

I've been trying to set up Thunderbird with Gmail IMAP on a Windows 10 x64 laptop. I type in my name, email address, and password, but it says that the username or password are incorrect. I can successfully sign in to Gmail directly (in my browser) using the same information. Thunderbird is up to date, and I have enabled IMAP in Gmail's settings.

The below image is not mine, but it shows the same message I keep getting.

If anyone can help me set this up, it would be much appreciated! I have tried several online tutorials but I run into this problem every time.

Thunderbird is an email program like Microsoft Outlook, and I want to connect it to my gmail account so that I can send and receive my gmail messages through Thunderbird.

As I said in my initial post, the image is not mine but it shows the same error message that I am getting.

Do you, by chance, have two-factor authentication on your gmail acct? If so, you can't use your regular password and will need to use an "app password" for logging in via TBird.
