Can't set up personalization settings they keep defaultly to 1 minute.

I just did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro on a new 500 GB Seagate Barracuda Drive on a HP PC. When I try to personalize the machine it will not hold the settings. When I try to set up the monitor shut down and computer sleep setting I set it to never it reverts to 1 minute it does this for both of them. If I fuss around with the times it will set on a random time such as 1 hour, 45 minutes, 5 hours etc. This also happens when setting up Themes, I pick a theme I want and when I try to set up the shuffle time it will do the same thing as the other settings.

Now to make it more interesting when I went to download Malwarebytes I click on English when it goes to the next step the default setting is Bosanski! When go to the drop down and hit English it revert right back to Bosanski. I thought it was a site problem do I deleted IE history and my Temp file and used my disk to load the program with the same results.

Last night when attempting to download Malwarebytes and I had the Bosanski problem I "assumed" it was a Malwarebytes problem. I sent them an email about the problem and needless to say they still haven't figured it out . BTW, I clicked OK for the goof and yes indeed I couldn't read a word of it.

I didn't click to me today until I found the above problem that they are probably being caused by the same glitch.

Has anyone ever encountered this before and if so how do I overcome it?

Where did you get Win7 which you clean installed?

Did you follow the steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7?

Did you install all of the patches and drivers provided by Important and Optional Windows Updates, after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)?

How much of the HP bloatware did you reimport? I would not use any unless it is defined as a critical patch, or provides a function that Windows 7 cannot do itself.

I got the disk for a Geek friend of mine "it is a Dell" installation Disk.

No I did not follow the steps you sent the links for. I have never even seen them before. VERY informative for sure.

No, I didn't automatically update the drivers as described in that link either.

I guess the only thing I really did correctly was make sure I didn't import much if any bloatware as I am very fussy about my patch installs. I also ran Decrapifier after the install and it came up clean.

So where am I going from here? I am almost afraid of your response as I already have over a dozen hours into this project. As I also loaded my Office 2003 program and had tons of updates "still downloading some as I type this". I know it has no more MS support but I am not to worried about it on that machine. My wife rarely uses the Office (Word) at all.

I don't know what could cause such behavior if it is a valid Dell Reinstallation disk for your licensed version. Do you have a Dell PC which this auto-activated? If not how did you activate it?

If it's the HP in your specs then I would start over with a clean ISO from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and do it correctly.

Otherwise run SFC /SCANNOW Command to see if something you installed or did damaged System files.

I know what you mean, I talked with a tech today that told me that it should be fine to use the OEM Dell Disk. I will give the SFC /SCANOW cmd and hope that works. I sure hate the thoughts of starting this from scratch again.
