Can't share files, also can't see Homegroup

I have two computers running Win 7. When they were both running XP, there were no problems with sharing files. Now when I try to move/copy files, I get the message: "you need permission to perform this action." Also, even though both computers say that they are members of a Homegroup, neither can see the other.I'm logged in as Administrator on both computers, I have file sharing enabled with full permissions set on both computers, I have UAC set to the lowest setting on both, I have tried changing passwords, leaving Homegroup and rejoining, I have set the network name to "Home" on both, and now I'm asking here for help. Any ideas? I love Win 7 and this is the first problem I've had with it but it's pretty frustrating. I thought this was supposed to be easier now.

Go down the list in this Homegroup walk through making sure everything is set up accordingly.

If that doesn't fix the problem then find this file C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking and then delate the file "idstore.sst" It may help to delate the entire file string.

You may need to leave the Homegroup and create it again after that. You might also have too enable the peerNetworking features in services again also.

Thanks very much. I did ALL those things and still no go. I really don't care about the Homegroup, I want to be able to share files across the network, drive to drive. I did find that I can still send files from either Win 7 computer to the Win XP computer on the network but the XP computer doesn't see either of the Win 7 computers. My router is fairly old. Maybe 7-8 year old Linksys if that matters. As I said, I have all the permissions (that I could find) set wide open and am Administrator on all machines.

Please try to check if the server and the workstation services are not disable. Try to start them manually. open services.msc and search for these services. Try to read this post, Cannot share files on the network.
